Ankola: Student spins kidnap yarn to escape PU exams!

Daijiworld Media Network - Ankola (DV)

Ankola, Mar 16: Students, especially those who suffer from what is called 'exam fever', are often known to come up with excuses to avoid writing exams. From headaches to stomach aches, excuses are aplenty. But the yarn spun by a student in Ankola definitely takes the cake.

A second PU student here decided to get creative in order to skip the crucial exams. The 'kidnap' plot he concocted, no less than a Bollywood movie, had created panic among the locals.

Chetan Ageira (17), a student of Government PU College, went missing two days ago. The news was that he was kidnapped by four masked persons while he walking on the Ankola highway on the way to the exam venue.

However, an investigation led by PSI B M Govinda revealed that the kidnap story was concocted by the student himself.

Chetan Ageira, said to be a talented student, had not prepared enough to write the PU exam, and hence to escape from exam and the subsequent blame, he claimed that he had missed the exam because of the four miscreants who abducted him. What's more, he even approached the police and demanded compensation for the harm he had suffered because of the miscreants!

The villagers along with gram panchayat president Rajendra came to the police station and filed a complaint seeking justice for the student.

Chetan had also spun his story so well that nobody suspected him. But he could not fool the police.

When ASI Govinda investigated, he found bus tickets in Chetan’s clothes indicating that the boy had travelled from Ankola towards Karwar on March 13 at around 9:30 am. But when the student was quizzed about this, he said that someone gave him the ticket while he was escaping from the kidnappers!

When the police enquired at his college, it came to light that the student had not taken his exam hall ticket to appear in the exam. During their investigation, the police also found that the boy had forged the signature of the college principal in his internal exams. Medical examination revealed that no chemical substance had been administered to him to render him unconscious.

He even went to the extent of wounding his hand with a blade and claiming that he was injured while escaping from the kidnappers.

He is not the first and last Student has exam phobia.many students are having this fever when they are not prepared.Even prepared one are also getting this.Only the best method to overcome this is backening from parents and say whether he Fails, or first class pass, will be loved the same.he should only without fear and believe in himself is most important.everybody has this nervousness. That doesn't mean he should run away.,is not a solution. On today's students there is lot of stress, parents expecting a big norm from them. That should be reduced.

Don't blame one part of the society,i.e only Male !!!.It is our modern society the unwanted extra freedoms and then both male and female one or other equally responsible for the unwanted incidents in this society !!!.

    Amin Bhoja,

No blaming one side - never. But, am protective about the female side. Because I know the physical impact on a girl if she has to attain motherhood while herself being not grown fully.

What difference it makes to a male whether he is 13 or 18 ? None ! He may not even have to bear the aftermath responsibility ! For him its like reliving an urge - nothing more !

    Amin Bhoja,

It could be my mentioning 'There are more crimes carried out by minor males' that you took offense.

Actually, I meant to say more minor (males) are involving in crimes these days than adult (males). I do not intend to paint minor girls as saints - obviously minor boys will pair with girls of their age surely not with girls older than them.

Apologies if my opinion offended you.

    Ethan,

How about reducing the age limit only for males ? There are more crimes carried out by minor males so, its suits to reduce their age limit to 13.

Now, what is the use if they cannot marry a girl until she isn't eligible ? Obviously the males will go about indulging in forceful sex, resulting with more rapes.

I am against reducing the age limit of females because in India, sex means straight away pregnancy. A girl below 18 will not attain proper physical growth, as such, bearing child before 18 will give many complications to mother and child ?

    Lydia Lobo, Kadri,

You know very well most of the rape cases currently reported in this forum are fabricated....I honestly feel real rapes by powerful men like Assram, Nitya are rarely reported for obvious reasons...

If rape is real then no doubt culprit should be punished if he is a minor or major...but if it is consensual act... then both should be punished or both should not be punished like in any civilized countries....

Current rape and dowry laws in India are laughable and ridiculous...it only reflects the quality of our lawmakers and nothing else...

Bring a fair law and apply it fairly on everybody....

Now that he missed one-two exams, it's best to leave him alone. He does not know the value of how much his are doing for him.

Drive him out to find a job and earn a living, when he realizes that there is nothing he can do without completing the studies, he will return to his studies next year. Self motivated goal is much more robust than an imposed path.
