Mumbai, Apr 2: Kannadiga Parishat, Karnataka government Kannada and cultural department Bangalore and Karnataka Sangha Mumbai jointly held their cultural festival 2014 at Karnataka Sangha's Dr M Vishveshwaraya hall on Sunday evening, March 23.

The cultural festival held under the leadership of Parishat president Surendrakumar Hegde was inaugurated by Police official Prakash Bhandary.  Senior litterateur, writer Dr Sunita M Shetty, astrologer and vastu specialist Ashok Purohit, drama artistes B Balachandra Rao, Manjunathayya, Bombay bunts association treasurer C A Surendra Shetty, businessmen Surendra A Poojary and Gopala Putran and other dignitaries were present.

"It is a unique forum that gives meaning to the lives of artists who strive for their unity.  Similarly the parishat of the artists is an asset for them.  May the projects of the parishat materialize.  May the parishat grow like a large tree that gives shade to the artists", said Prakash Bhandary in the inaugural address.

"Art is the reflection of life.  The artistic talent is hidden in everybody.  Different arts have the possessiveness hidden in them.  So art is an indivisible part of life.  Most artists are rich in arts but are poor in lives.  May the parishat which strives for the artists may grow as the light of the artists", said Surendra Shetty.

Gopal Putran spoke saying that Kannadigas have won the hearts of art lovers by presenting their talents in the artistic way.

Manjunath said that poverty can be seen among artists.  May the organization which identifies their difficulties be like their Kalpavraksha, he said.

"The parishat is the symbol of life.  The parishat which has prepared to encourage artistic life should be inspired and encouraged by all. Let us struggle by the organization which strives to know the artiste mentally and physically to serve them", said Dr Sunitha Shetty.

Departed senior author Yashwanth Chittal and magician artiste Siddakatte Chennappa Shetty were paid homage with silent prayer at the beginning of the meeting.

Joint secretary Ramesh Shivapura and working committee member G T Acharya were present at the dais.  Preethika Ameen and Shradda led the prayer.  Parishat vice president Subhash B Shetty welcomed.  Vice president Dayasagar Chowta compered the programme.  Honorary chief secretary Karnoor Mohan Rai thanked.
