Mumbai, April 15: A fresh mind paves the way for positive thinking. It makes unselfish service possible.  The all round development of the society occurs with such thinking.  The enthusiasm to teach Kannada to English medium students is praiseworthy.  It is a matter of pride that despite the pressure, the aroma of Kannada is being spread said Karunakara M Shetty, Managing Director of V K group of companies.

Karunakar Shetty was speaking as the chief guest after lighting the lamp at the 12th anniversary of Malad Kannada Sangha held at Sri Sakalanarayana Sharma hall on Datta Mandira road on April 12.  Harish N Shetty, president of the Sangha, presided over the programme.

Vasai taluk hotel owner’s association president Prakash Hegde and Safalya Seva Sangha secretary Srinivasa P S were present as guests of honor.

The guests of honor felicitated and congratulated social worker Jayanth S Shetty and Surekha S Shetty couple and honorary president Padmanabha S Payyade on behalf of the sangha, recognizing their invaluable service.  They also distributed prizes to the winners in sports activities.

The guests of honor felicitated Kannada teachers Sundara Poojary, Pushpa S Poojary, Rashmi S Poojary and Shwetha S Poojary.  They also felicitated Balachandra Rao, Dayananda Shetty, Raju Shetty, C A Surendra Shetty and the other well wishers of the Sangha.

They also distributed financial aid from Lata Jayarama Shetty memorial fund, Kaup Kalya Majalaguthu late Sheena Shetty memorial fund, Kaup Nadikere late Meenakka Shetty memorial fund started by Krishna S Shetty and late Pratima Tukaram Shetty memorial fund to the beneficiary children.

Malad Kannada Sangha is praiseworthy for preparing so many programmes within a short span of time.  The unselfish commitment of workers has made it possible. The people friendly programmes have led to the development of the Sangha, said K M Shetty.

We should not have the feeling that we are outsiders just because we are brought up in Mumbai.  We should remember that we are Kannadigas.

Being Indians we should grow in patriotism and indulge in building the country, said Prakash Hegde.

Srinivasa P S said that soft spoken man of few words president of the sangha, Harish Shetty’s service is the strength of the sangha.  It is a matter of pride that the Sangha has held several cultural, education and social programmes and responded to the desires of the Kannadigas in the area and has established its own office for the next generation within twelve years.

I have preserved and followed the traditions of coastal region even after remaining here for work.  The changes in education are responsible for our achievements. Though the system of our education has changed, the culture of origin should not change.  The Sangha and likeminded groups should struggle towards it, said Padmanabha S Payyade.

The sangha has continued the projects of Tulu Kannadigas in order to give prominence to Kannada language and culture and have also seen it succeed.  The own office of the sangha was possible with the cooperation of hundreds of well wishers.  The large number of members and their contribution helped us succeed. Let all the local Kannadigas be members of the sangha and grow like a huge tree and relish in its shade, said Harish Shetty.

Honorary treasurer Prakash S Shetty, Joint treasurer Shanker R Shetty, Women’s wing president Rati B Rao, Secretary Shambhavi B Shetty, Youth wing president Soorappa Kunder, Secretary Rajani P Shetty and other office bearers were present on the dais.

Vice president Advocate Jagadish S Hegde welcomed.  Sreya S Shetty led the prayer.  Honorary chief secretary Shanker D Poojary gave a key note address.  K Acharya introduced the guests.  Padmanabha S Payyade presented flower bouquets to the guests and felicitated them.

Ullooru Dhanajay Shanti conducted the programme and introduced the felicitated. Joint Secretary Anil S Poojary proposed vote of thanks.

Members of the Sangh and children presented cultural programme.  A Tulu comedy drama titled ‘Puttud Dada Prayojana’ was enacted by the youth wing.
