Udupi: Auto driver meets watery grave at Kaup beach

Udupi, Apr 24: In a tragic incident, a man who was on a fun outing with his wife and child met watery grave at Kaup beach here on Thursday April 24.

The deceased has been identified as Shahid (25), son of Mohammed Shareef, a resident of Belapu. 

Shahid was an auto rickshaw driver by profession and rode his own auto near old taluk office in Udupi.

It is said that on Thursday, he had come to the beach with his wife and one-year-old child. While playing in the water, he was pulled in by the strong waves and got washed away in seconds.

Though local swimmers Vinod Sriyan and Nitin Kotian tried to rescue him, their efforts failed.

Shahid's body was recovered soon, and sent for post-mortem.

District incharge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake arrived at the spot and expressed condolence.

A case has been registered in the Kaup police station.
