Dominican rapper stabbed to death in Spain

Barcelona, May 2 (IANS/EFE): Dominican rapper Monkey Black was stabbed to death during a fight in suburban Barcelona, Spanish police said Thursday.

The 27-year-old rapper, whose real name is Leonardo Michael Flores Ozuna, died after being stabbed seven times, apparently by two attackers, the police said.

Monkey Black began his musical career in mid-2006 and became popular in his country for his number 'Tienen miedo'.

The rapper received "rapid" medical attention but could not be saved. He was attacked by two people after an argument that began in a nearby bar, according to sources close to the investigation.

The suspected murderers inadvertently left some personal objects in the bar, the sources said.

Witnesses said the singer died after walking about 20 metres after being stabbed at the bar entrance.

Since the murder, fans and friends of the musician have been leaving candles and flowers at the site. For the past four years, Ozuna had lived in Barcelona.

Companions of the late rapper reacted quickly to his death, with Dominican singer Vakero writing on Twitter: "I feel so bad... I don't want to believe that you're no longer with us."

Also, rapper La Materialista said on Twitter that "today the urban movement is in mourning over your departure, Monkey Black".
