Mumbai, Sep 3: The 70th annual general meeting of Thiya Samaj Mumbai will be held on Sunday September 7 at Samarasa Bhavana of Karnataka Sangha at Matunga (W) at 9.30 am.

The general meeting will be under the presidentship of Chandrashekar Belchada.

Thiya Samaj was established in Mumbai in 1944 and from the past seven decades has united the people of the society, has benefited students through scholarships and has also helped the sick through medical funds.

In the annual general meet, the previous year's report card will be presented, new presidents for the period of 2014-2016 will be selected and other office bearers will be appointed.

From afternoon 2.30 to 5.30 a Tulu nataka 'Moksha' will be performed, directed by Vijaykumar Shetty.

Founder of Jayakrishna Parisara Premi Samithi, Mumbai Tonse Jayakrishna A Shetty will be the chief guest. Karnataka Jain association, president B Muniraj Jain, Sasihitlu Bagvathi Thiya association Mumbai, president Chandrahas Palan and ex-president of Thiya Samaj Dubai Roshan Bolar will be present. Rohidas Bangera president of Thiya Samaj Mumbai, member of the Board Jaya C Saliyan, Dr Dayanand K Kumbla is a Cardiologist in Thane West and other guests too will attend.

Students will be given scholarships and achievers will be honoured. Secretary Ail Babu has requested to come on time in large numbers and make the event a grand success.
