    1. In today’s world ‘Social Media’ is inevitable and integral part of our life. So, impossible to ban them or keep present generation out of it. So, better educate young minds at school and college level by training them as to how to handle social media responsibly. In the process, educate them about the legal consequences. Thus, save them from committing online crimes unknowingly.
    2. The Cyber Police should join hands with the school and college management bodies in conducting such training sessions in the educational institutions every year. This will prevent cyber-crimes to a great extent.
    4. With regard to organised ‘white collar cyber-crimes’, it is equally important that judges, prosecutors, lawyers and police are given intensive professional training to handle the cases. Honestly, our legal system is not so competent to handle most of the complex cyber-crimes. This is out of my experience. So, new generation technology based crimes require new approach by the authorities.

It is the step in the right direction.

In general user security considerations and implementation is not a higher priority. The cyber attack methods are getting more and more technical and beyond common man imagination and who fall prey to such attacks. Mostly 99.5 percent users are law abiding and follow proper measures as much as they are fammiliar with, knoweledge, and thier previous expereinces. The small percentage of 0.5 is the cause of major issues related to Cyber crimes.

The Cyber polce should be familar with technical areas such as incident management, Operating system configuartions, Forensic techniques to monitor usage and recover data from laptops and mobiles. The response in in such instances is critical and key for subject / suspect identification.

The investigation methods and evidenece management to prove the crime in the court is different from criminal investigations.

Hope such deterent methods helps our socciety to minimize cyber crimes and punish only those who commit such crimes and found guilty in the court of law.

I am extremely happy that The Police Commissioner in Mangalore has taken the initiative to introduce A CYBER CRIME POLICE STATION IN MANGALORE. This is a step in the right direction.

People from some segments take a delight to tarnish the good names and tarnish the reputation of people. This is merely to spite others and indeed police can play a positive role in checking this kind of crime.

I say kudos to all concerned for this innovation.
