Udupi, Oct 12: A woman, who had attempted suicide last month, has now filed a case against her in-laws saying the harassment by them prompted her to attempt suicide, here on Sunday, October 12.

Divya Joyis from Shirva, wife of Divakar Joyis is the complainant in this case.

On September 8, Divya with her son Dheeraj aged 4 jumped into Pavanje River near Mulky. The woman was saved by onlookers while the child could not be saved. The Mulky police later had registered a case against the woman on the charges of suicide attempt.

Now after a month the case has taken a new twist with the suicide survivor lodging a case against her brother-in-law Ramanath Joyis and his wife Malathi Joyis for harassment. She has told the police that because of the persistent harassment, she wanted to end her life.

Shirva police have registered the case and investigations have started.

Think about this poor woman. Her inlaws drove her so crazy that she actually contemplated suicide. What is with our inlaws? Can you not understand that your daughter in law in someone elses daughter? Children are not heavy for parents but society makes them give daughters away in the name of marriage. You have been given a gift. Treat it like that. Why do you treat her like a servant? Even rich people behave this same way. I even know of people who have paid over one KG of gold to inlaws but the inlaws treat the girl badly. What is it with Indian inlaws? SHeee

@ chinnu . She could have handed over baby to someone before committing suicide . Why baby has to suffer for her issue with in-laws . This has no Justification.

roshan, only when a mother feels that her child will be ill treated and its life will be miserable after her death, she would think of taking such a drastic step. although practically i dont support it, but try to understand a mothers state of mind at that moment.

Dear Roshan, before writing something think twice, it is not child play to commit suicide. The lady lost her child and live in society cause some people rescued her. She already died two times. Only her physical body is existing now. Don't comment that lady should be booked under murder as if she killed her child. It is not her live normal life even if she freed from police case and law. I hope uunderstand better.
