Mangalore, Oct 27: Mangalore University has sent a letter to the government urging for a minimum honorarium of Rs 5000 to guest lecturers from affiliated government first grade colleges, informed Mangalore University vice-chancellor Prof K M Kaveriappa.

Addressing the University's Academic Council meeting on Thursday October 26, he said that the government has not cleared last year's honorarium owing to which the guests lecturers have been unwilling to respond to the University's invitations.

The members at the meeting decided to rename the course in Master of Journalism as Master of Communication and Journalism (MCJ) in view of the students' interests.
