Bantwal, Nov 8: Under instructions from the Tehsildar of the Taluk, a team led by Vittal revenue inspector raided a private land in Kula village near Idkidu in the Taluk on Friday, November 7.

The team confiscated huge stock of sand, stones and machinery from the spot.

It is gathered that a person named Badanaje Jagadish, who had bought 42 cents of land at Jedarakodi in Kula village along with adjacent government land, had leveled this land, which was being used to stock sand and stones.

The team, comprising revenue assistant, Girish, village accountant, Vijeta and assistant, Raghava Gowda conducted raid and confiscated 15 truckloads of sand, ten loads of stones, four machinery used for sand processing and generators. The team was provided security by a police team. When Jagadish offered to hold discussions privately, the officials refused and held talks in the presence of locals.

Locals, particularly women, had held protest in the past, as the road leading to Kula from Adyal had been destroyed because of the movement of trucks loaded with heavy stones and sand. After they held a protest, patch work for closing potholes had been conducted. A 100 metre road, as well as a concrete road built out of legislator’s grant, was deteriorated due to the movement of heavy vehicles.

It is learnt that he processed sand was being sent to Kerala from Kula.
