Karnataka Formation Day is celebrated on November 1st every year in Karnataka as ‘Rajyotsava’ with great pomp and fanfare. This was the day in 1956 when all the Kannada language-speaking regions of South India were merged to form the state of Karnataka.

The occasion was graced by Shetty trio- Chandrashekar Shetty, managing director of Crystal Automation Pvt Ltd and owner of Balaji Food Plaza, Chandrahas Shetty, United Cooling Towers boss and publisher of Hiranandani Estate News and Jagdeesh Shetty, president of Thane Bunts association. The Bunts community is known for its entrepreneurship and hardworking nature.

Chandrashekar Shetty, who was the chief guest for the function, promised all his support to the Hiranandani Estate Kannada Balaga for organizing their events on a grand scale.

Stressing the importance of Kannada language, he said, “This language is 2000 years old and its culture is rich and vibrant”.

Kannada Balaga president Prema Rao delivered the introductory address. The Shetty trio showered praise on Prema Rao for her efforts in starting Hiranandani Estate Kannada Balaga.

The students of Swaralaya headed by Manushree Kumar regaled the audience with Kannada Bhavageete and Janapada Geete (folk songs).

There were also scintillating dance performances which received plaudits from the audience. A quiz on Karnataka made the Thane Kannadigas sit up and think about the contribution and achievements of people from the state. Prizes were distributed to the winners of cooking competition held earlier in September. Toppers in XII exam, Pranab Kulkarni and Nitisha Shetty of Hiranandani Estate were also felicitated.

Speaking on the occasion, Manushree Kumar, secretary of the Balaga said that since the inception of this organization last year, they have celebrated 3 events: Purandara Dasa Aradhana Mohotsava, International Women’s Day and Cooking Competition.

The programme concluded with a delicious dinner for all. The event generated a sense of pride in the minds of the audience for being a part of a culture that is so rich and vibrant.
