Wal-Mart extends e-commerce platform across Andhra

Hyderabad, Dec 1 (IANS): Wal-Mart India Monday launched the B2B e-commerce platform for all members of the Best Price Modern Wholesale store in Rajahmundry town of Andhra Pradesh, thereby extending e-commerce to all the Best Price stores in the state.

Wal-Mart India is the fully owned subsidiary of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and the world's leading retailer.

The customers in Rajahmundry can now shop and book orders online. The platform provides an avenue for the customers to virtually view a huge array of products and make their respective selections, said a company statement.

A member can also avail selection from a similar assortment of products on display at the brick and mortar Best Price Modern Wholesale stores, including a select variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Wal-Mart India launched the B2B e-commerce platform in July this year for members of Lucknow and Hyderabad Best Price stores. It extended the B2B platform to its customers at Guntur and Vijayawada in October.

"The convenience of easy selection and payment along with efficient delivery of quality products at their doorstep are among the few factors that have led to the success of this initiative. We value our members and strive to give them an excellent shopping experience," said Krish Iyer, president and CEO, Wal-Mart India.
