New Delhi, Jan 7 (IANS): The Indian Railways Wednesday reported a 12.57 percent increase in earnings during April-December at Rs.114,656.13 crore - up from Rs.101,856.45 crore during the corresponding period of the last fiscal.
The railways said total earnings from ferrying cargo during the period under review rose by 12.19 percent at Rs.77,161.55 crore from Rs.68,776.35 crore during the like period of the last fiscal.
According to the railways, its total revenue earnings from ferrying passengers during the period under review grew by 15.59 percent at Rs.31,955.07 crore from Rs.27,646.13 crore during the same period last year.
However, total passengers booked during the period stood at 6,256.16 million from 6,360.15 million representing a decline of 1.64 percent.
