Mangaluru: Old age home for women by Kudroli mosque inaugurated

Mangaluru, Jan 17: 'Dar-Ush-Shafqath', an old age home Muslim women aged above 50 years, a project undertaken by Kudroli Jamia Masjid, was inaugurated on Saturday, January 17. The building also houses Miftahul Uloom Madrasa.

Mangaluru Qazi Twaka Ahmed Musliyar led the prayer. Nissar Ahamed, chairman and managing director of Dubai’s Nash Group of Companies, and who bore the entire cost of construction of the building, inaugurated the building and dedicated it to Kudroli Jamia Masjid.

Addressing the gathering, K S Mohammed Masood, former MLC and president of Jamia Mosque, said, "The building has been constructed by Nissar Ahamed in order to provide shelter for poor and destitute women. The entire course of Arabic education will be taught in the Madrasa Miftahul Uloom here, along with Kannada, English, Maths and Urdu. Education and other facilities will be provided free of charge for poor destitute students by the Mosque administration."

The chancellor of Yenepoya University, Y Abdulla Kunhi congratulated Nissar Ahamed providing such a facility.

District Haj committee president Y Mohammed Kunhi, district Wakf Board president S M Basheer, Kanachur Educational Institute president Kanachur Monu, Muslim Central Committee vice-president Ibrahim Kodijal, businessmen Imtiaz Ahmed Karkal, Asif Mohammed, Dubai, Dr Arif Masood, corporator Abdul Azeez and former mayor Ashraf were present as guests.

Jamia Mosque Khateeb Mukhti Abdul Mannar, building architect Al Mannath Builders and Developers owner Mohammed Saleem, consultant Mohammed Zain, Ameer Moulana, Haneef Haji, former corporator Aboobacker and Kudroli Jamia Mosque committee office-bearers were present. Kudroli Jamia Mosque chief secretary Abdul Khaleel welcomed.

'Dar-Ush-Shafqath' means love, affection and affinity. Destitute Muslim women above the age of 50 years will be provided free accommodation here. The building can accommodate 50 women. Accommodation, food, medical consultation and treatment will be provided free of cost. The expenditure will be reimbursed by Nissar Ahamed every year. It will function under the management of Kudroli Jamia mosque, explained Mohammed Masood.

    Asslaam Waaleikum, Kindly guide us how i can enroll myself to stay there after 3 years. I am an educated single woman and can do some work also while staying there - like helping out with admin work, deenee work and teaching kids and others. Please advise.     This old age home is not a money making racket where children leave their parents and pay the old age home monthly money. This place is built keeping in mind those old ppl whose children have abandoned them or who have no husband and children.
    There are old muslims in other oldage homes where they follow their rituals at the fag end of their life. In Shaa Allah Our struggle will b to bring such ppl to our old age home give them good care and let them die with imaan.
    This old age home is not for people who have a family to take care of them. Admissions will be done after all enquiries are done.
    Our Prophet (PBUH) has said to help the poor and needy and this is a small step taken by Nissar Ahmed to help the needy destitute women.

    Very poor thought by Mr. Shaaz. He is missing the point here. Every muslim is aware about his rights towards his parents. Still certain percentage of muslims do not adhere to this responsibility. There might be few unfortunate parents who might have lost their only kid, or childless parents. This home is for them. Please be optimistic Mr. Shaaz rather than commenting just for the sake of it.

    I do not understand the dislikes in this column. How can one not like a noble cause like this. These people who have disliked comments are the same people who think twice before spending on charity.

    Very Sad. This is the not the practice of Islam. During Prophet or Qalipah time there we no Old Age Home. This is encouraging people not to look afte thier parents & send it to these Old Age Home. Islam Says Jannah on your Mothers Footsteps & We should look after our Parents during thier old times. Very Sad to Read this Article.

    Shaaz, Before preaching or giving advice I feel that you should go around Managalore and see how many muslim ladies are in old age homes run by nuns and other organizations who are doing a good job no doubt but some of the organization are paid Rs10000 per month by thier own children to look after them. Some destitute women who are born muslims die in the old age home without someone helping them say kalimah. Go and enquire about a muslim lady being burnt after her death and na-auzubillah you condem this good work. People like you are selfish and block the charity and the urge among muslim brothers and sisters to help the people in need. I kindly rquest you to refrain from posting demoralizing comments. I also would like you to go and see the arrangements done to take of the women with doctors, kitchen, safety, nurses and etc. I you cannot afford kindly do not show your negative attitude to others. This is not the practice in Islam but if there is no one to look after them do you want them to sleep and ide on the road or will you take care of them. Let us see if you can take of care of atleast one of them in your house if you cannot build a old house I am pretty sure that your family memebers will object to you keeping, looking after and spending on a lady whom you do not know. One more thing this is open to all the sects of muslim women but aged 55yrs and above. This is a long post but would like you to be better informed and think positively in future.

    Shaaz, There might be people who will build old age homes for which we should appreciate but Mr. Nissar has promised to bear all the expenses of the old age home (building and the occupants) forever means his children will follow on his footsteps. Kudos to Mr. Nissar and his family members who have not objected or thought twice before doing this noble cause. May Allah grant them good health and wealth to continue helping the needy and may Allah give you and others having negative approach better understanding.

    In Qur'an, the commandment for being kind and dutiful to our parents occurs more than 10 times. It is interesting to note that, in the Qur'an, it has been stressed more to love our parents than to love our children or our wives. The reason is that it is in our nature to love our children and wives. But as people grow older having their own families, their love for their old parents diminishes most of the times. Therefore, the Qur'an tells us to cultivate the love of our parents in our hearts.

    A man performed hajj while carrying his old mother on his shoulder. At the end of hajj, he asked Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) if he had repaid his mother for the favors she had done to him when he was a child. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) replied to him: "Not even a little bit. You did not repay her for that one night when you were a little kid and you urinated on the bed and made it wet. Your mother placed you on the dry place on the bed and she herself slept on the wet spot." In one tradition, he (peace be upon him) is noted to have said: "The prayer (supplication) of a father for his son is equivalent to the prayer of a prophet for his nation."

If either or both of them reach old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them, and speak to them in terms of honour. And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: 'My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy, as they did bring me up when I was small." (Surah Al-Isra' [The Night Journey] 17:23-24)

    This is a great gesture by Mr. Nissar Ahmed. It should be considered as a "Very Kind Gesture" by him as he is not only making a home for the aged poor\destitute Muslim ladies but also bearing all expenses through out. May he be blessed along with his near dear ones.
    There are many rich people around who make tall statements but never venture in activities like this as this will be only expenses for them.
    I wonder if any of the State or Union Ministers who have amassed wealth have ever done such humane acts.
    They would rather give a gold plated door or a jeweled crown to the temple\churches etc. which is very selfish thinking, as it brings fame to them and not for the love of God.
    If they could utilise the same for helping living humans, to alleviate their difficulties especially older ones, then there will be good will and prayers offered for the donors\families good health and God will be more than happy at this gesture.
    Hope such charitable wealthy people will come forward for this kind of activity.

    What a kind gesture on the part of Nissar Ahamed for providing a facility for the comfort and care of Muslim ladies needing attention.

    All have to go through the process of aging and whatever love and care that is bestowed on them will go a long way. The younger generation should bear in mind that what they do for the elderly will be rewarded by The Almighty in great measure.

    I heard isolating mentally ill people but this is something new. Isolation center for "Mother"

    It is a nice thought of having a home for this particular women.I heard often there are many muslim women old and not having anybody to take care.But here in Picture I dont see any women around.Why should they be isolated?who will take care of them?again men?strange.some freedom would be besser.
