The Hague, Feb 16 (IANS): Dutch judo legend Wim Ruska died at the age of 74, Dutch media reported.
Ruska captured two gold medals at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, in the heavyweight class ( 93kg) and the open category, reported Xinhua.
His success was overshadowed by the deadly attack on the Israeli delegation that took place a few days before.
Amsterdam-born Ruska also became world champion 93kg in 1967 and 1971, and captured a total of seven European titles.
In 2013 he was inducted in the Hall of Fame of the International Judo Federation.
In 2001, Ruska suffered a stroke, which made him psychically disabled and impeded his talking.
He died in a nursing home in Hoorn Saturday.
