Bengaluru, Feb 20: Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Nadu expressed concern over the inordinate delay in the implementation of the Namma Metro project work.

Naidu, who is also in charge of the Parliamentary Affairs, was speaking after inaugurating the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan jointly organised by the State and Union Urban Development Departments in Bengaluru on Friday.

The minister promised to hold a joint review of the entire project work along with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The minister said he had also voiced his concern over the delay with Karnataka’s Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, who is also the minister in charge of Bengaluru.

Reddy said he had explained to the Union Minister the reasons for the delay, especially in the busy Majestic area.

“Work has slowed down because of the presence of underground hard rocks in Chikpet area. Apart from this, a tunnel boring machine has been stuck in the area," he said.

Reddy said he had also informed the Union Minister that the Chief Minister had made several inspections and held talks for expediting work.
