Malaysia beat Kazakhstan in Hockey World League


New Delhi, March 7 (IANS): Commencing the Hockey World League Round 2 (Women) on a winning note, Malaysia completed an outstanding 8-0 win against Kazakhstan in the inaugural match at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here on Saturday.

An energetic first quarter saw both Malaysia and Kazakhstan in attacking mode. Captain Siti Ruhani did not make any mistake while firing a penalty stroke in the seventh minute, helping Malaysia to take a 1-0 lead.

It was through Nurul Mansur (10th minute) that Malaysia scored the second goal through a field effort to make it 2-0.

Siti Othman successfully converted a penalty corner (28th) while Fatin Mahd Sukri pierced in a field goal to make it 4-0 by halftime.

The third quarter saw Malaysia score two more goals from Fazilla Sylvester Silin (33rd) Norbaini Hashim (37th) to make it 6-0.

Contributing further, Surizan Noh pumped in another field goal (53rd) while Hanis Onn added another just a minute from the hooter to win 8-0.
