Czech Republic lose to Australia 2-3 in Davis Cup


Prague, March 9 (IANS): The Czech men's tennis team lost to Australia 2-3 in the Davis Cup first round tie in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

After the three matches held on Friday and Saturday, the Australian team led with 2-1. In the final day's two single matches on Sunday, Czech player Lukas Rosol lost to Bernard Tomic 6-7 (4-7), 3-6, 6-7 (5-7), reports Xinhua.

Czech Jan Mertl beat Samuel Groth 6-3, 6-2 but that didn't change the course of the match.

After the defeat in first round, the Czech team has to play a match in September for promoting themselves to higher group.
