Udupi, Feb 14: A group of unidentified youth who went on rampage at Majur near Kaup here assaulted a few who were travelling on a four-wheeler on Tuesday February 13 night.  Following this incident tensions still prevails in Kaup and surrounding areas.  However, tight police security has been arranged in Kaup to meet any untoward situation.

The incident occurred when two bikers were followed by a group of youth in the car after the former tried to ram into their vehicle on Tuesday night. At this point, the youth riding the bike tried to assault them.  At the same time one of them is said to have decamped with a gold chain from the passenger in the car.

Meanwhile a few banners of brahmakalashotsavam Shivaratri and even that of Empower India Conference to be held at Bangalore which were put up in the area have either been removed or damaged by miscreants.  Following this situation remains very tensed in the area despite deployment of police personnel.

The police have already arrested two persons in this regard and have seized a sabre and a wooden club from them.  They have been identified as Abdul and Jameer.  More details are yet to be known.
