AAP has turned into a Khap: Expelled leaders Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav

Updated

New Delhi, Apr 21 (NDTV): After weeks of acrimony and public wrangling, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) finally expelled founder members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan late on Monday night.

The exit that Yadav and Bhushan had predicted weeks ago took place in stages.

The two leaders were systematically removed from all party panels, and then served notice by a disciplinary committee that Bhushan once headed.

Both leaders hit back with scathing, public replies to the notice on Monday, leaving little scope for reconciliation. An AAP statement said the two had been expelled for "gross indiscipline and anti-party activities," and the decision was unanimous.

"AAP is now run by a Khaap (panchayat). All dreams of a movement have been shattered by a small coterie and a dictator," said Bhushan this morning, tearing into party chief Arvind Kejriwal, his former collaborator in various anti-corruption crusades since 2011.

"At least now the nautanki (drama) is over. I feel deep regret, but no question of personal loss," the senior lawyer added.

Yogendra Yadav tweeted, "Still waiting for order of expulsion. If it was indeed a 'Disciplinary Committee' the least one expects is an order that states its grounds."

Yadav and Bhushan said they were hounded for taking on Arvind Kejriwal, who is the chief minister of Delhi, and objecting to what they called his dictatorial ways.

AAP charged the two of trying to unseat Kejriwal and sabotage AAP's campaign for the Delhi election, which ended with a record result for India's youngest party.

The infighting that began just days after that victory peaked last week when the rebels announced a new campaign, "Swaraj Abhiyan," and offered a platform for disenchanted party volunteers to openly voice their criticism and vote on the possibility of forming a new party.

Action is now expected against more rebels, including Prashant Bhushan's father and former law minister Shanti Bhushan, and Mayank Gandhi, a senior AAP leader in Maharashtra.

"When will you throw me out, Arvind? I am waiting for that impatiently. Arvind should adopt Hitler's dress as he has already adopted his ways," said Shanti Bhushan.

Earlier Report

New Delhi, Apr 21 (PTI) : Cracking the whip, AAP expelled rebel leaders Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav and two others for anti-party activities and "gross indiscipline", two days after issuing a show-cause notice to them.

The decision to sack them from the party was taken by the national disciplinary committee which said as it was not satisfied with the response it got to the show-cause notice.

"The party's national disciplinary committee has taken a decision to expel Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav, Anand Kumar and Ajit Jha. They were expelled for gross indiscipline, anti-party activities and violation of code of conduct of the party," said party spokesperson Deepak Bajpai.

Yadav was a mole in AAp planted by Congress. He tried to find strong ground in AAP in case his masters disown him or he might have seen his masters withering out.
Now he will try to go back to his masters or will join some other party.
Those 'some other party's should be very careful. Once a mole will remain a mole!

Congress has nothing to do with Babri Masjid demolition. That time UP was ruled by Kalyan Singh led BJP govt. Central govt can send the military on the request of state govt only. UP state govt failed to stop the demolition of the mosque. This incident was happened in 1992, thereafter how many years Congress ruled India. Why nobody filed the case against Congress, if Congress did this. Can you prove it in the court????

No one could do what was done by AAP. Follow the set principles and go on whoever get distracted, track out them. AAP will find many better new and young faces. Just concentrate on swaraj type governance.....
anyway there is no scarcity-as all thrown out or criminals or communalists or oldies and goldies will have enough parties in India to accept.
Here AAP Unity loses in service but all other parties leaders unite more to fool the democracy!!!

    I stand firm with truth.
I stand with Prashanth Bhushan and all others who had raised their voices against malpractices.
I was a big fan of Kejriwal. Thankfully he has revealed his true face.
I am a doctor and I knew that blood sugar 300 (even if true) will not hold back anybody from handiling a crisis. My worst fears have come true. Kejriwal was doing drama of a patient buyt, infact, he was busy making pressurising calls to MLAs of Delhi to sign. Read replies by Prashanth Bushan and Yogendra Tadav to know more. If you do not believe in these seious charges, do an investigation.
Learnt a big lesson- "Never, Ever become a fan of a person. Become a supporter of ideologies.

I think its too early to judge the person who has become chief minister just 2 months back. What Delhi have reposed on him. If in case he fails in that part then we can call him leader who is just like any other party. I still remember the words of Kejriwal " Keechad ko Keechad main Ghuske Saffai Karna padtha hai". Lets wait and watch his governance in Delhi.

AAP is born out of struggle to get justice to common people/women, fight against corruption. , water problems in Delhi, and many other common issues concerning with people. Despite the big propaganda by BJP/Congress through media AAP got thumping majority in the Delhi election. It shows they are with people of Delhi and people of Delhi also wanted bring a change from congress/bjp to AAP. The educated intellectuals having different political ideology joined the AAP , in the process, the ideological conflicts obvious. Therefore this development, and birth of rebellions and ultimately their exclusion. But AAP will grow because of their good work which they are doing at Delhi.

It is a lesson for all who come in to AAP with ambition or self righteousness. AAP is a family, and family disputes needs to be solved with in the four walls, any body taking it to the press will be shunted like PB and YY. Let us move on and establish the structures of AAP all over India like they are doing in Delhi. In five years AAP will succeed in Delhi making it one of the best five cities of the world then will get approval to rule whole of India.

Good, punitive and democratic action taken by the party.
Any one in the party or in team, doesn't believe in team work, do not subject themselves to a democratically elected leader of the party or team, is always a problem.
In subordination or indiscipline is always penalized in party, team, company or in armed forces.
