Mumbai, May 2: Maharashtra Konkan Association, which has been rendering cultural, educational, and social service in Mumbai for the last two decades, held its 20th annual general body meeting at St Jude Church Hall in Jerimeri, Kurla(West) on Friday May 1.

Fr Lancy Saldanha, spiritual director of the association, held a holy mass for the association. The programme held in the school hall later was presided over by founder president and present president Leo Fernandes Jerimeri.

Fr Saldanha later held a prayer service. He said that we should not be discouraged even if people are not content with our service. “Take criticism in your stride. Service without any expectations in return has its reward. It will be beyond your expectations,” he said.

“Selfless service is possible only through social concern. Service at present has become a thankless job. However, it is a matter of pride that our members continue to proceed in their mission of service”, he said.

New office-bearers were elected in the meeting. Former president Benedicta Rebello was elected unanimously as new president of the association.

Sangeet Samrat Henry D’Souza, Stanley D’Souza Kaleena, Henry D’Pavla, and V D’Silva were present. Former president Walter D' Souza Kalmadi, former president Benedicta B Rebello and John Veigas were on the dais.

Chief secretary Vincent Castelino welcomed, gave details of annual activities, and read the annual report. John Veigas presented the annual accounts and proposed the vote of thanks.
