  • Sources say Krishnamurthy is pulling out all the stops to ensure Kapur doesn’t get their daughter Kaveri

Mumbai, Mar 31: If sources are to be believed, the Shekhar Kapur-Suchitra Krishnamurthy divorce proceedings may just get uglier. Suchitra has already accused her film-maker husband of having an affair with actor Preity Zinta. Now we hear the couple is fighting over the custody of their daughter Kaveri and Suchitra is therefore allegedly using Preity to strengthen her case against Shekhar.

Says a friend of Shekhar, “Shekhar loves Kaveri a lot and desperately wants his daughter to stay with him in London. He was here to sort out how he could get the sole custody of her. It will be difficult though as  Suchitra is attached to the child and the court generally sides with the mother.”

Suchitra, however, says there is no custody issue at all. She says, “My daughter will obviously stay with me.  Shekhar is always travelling. There are no two ways about it. It’s unfair to drag her into our battle. I am sure Shekhar understands that she needs to stay with her mother like she always has.”

As for her talking about Preity and the latter’s reaction she says, “I don’t see anything ugly. I have spoken the truth and I don’t have to react to what people’s perception of me is. They are welcome to their opinions,” she says.

While evading the custody issue, Shekhar clarifies, “There exists no relationship between Preity Zinta and me beyond that of  friendship. I pray that all parties involved find peace, happiness and harmony in their respective lives.”
