Mumbai celebrate IPL triumph at Eden with fireworks, confetti


ArrayKolkata, May 25 (IANS): Amid showering of confetti, fireworks and team huddles, Mumbai Indians celebrated their IPL trophy triumph at the Eden Gardens after a thumping 41-run win over Chennai Super Kings in the final on Sunday.

The celebrations had virtually started even before the last ball was bowled in the game, as Chennai lost one wicket after another and the asking rate soared.

In reply to Mumbai's daunting 202/5, Chennai could only score 161/8.

After the fall of every Chennai wicket, the Mumbai players would rush towards the middle, with high fives, as they embraced and congratulated each other.

Once the match got over, all the Mumbai players scampered to get hold of the stumps.

Harbhajan Singh, who contributed greatly to the team's success, bagged one of the stumps. J Suchith managed to grab another.

Crackers burst and a colourful fireworks display continued for some time.

The entire support staff, Mumbai Indians owner Neeta Ambani and her son came on to the ground to congratulate the players, as did Bollywood celebrities Farhan Akhtar, Ranveer Singh and Anil Kapoor.

The entire squad, including the support staff and the owners went into a celebrsatory huddle on the pitch.

Later, confetti rained as the prizes were presented. Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma proudly held aloft the IPL Trophy and soon after, the entire squad posed for a group photo which they would keep with themselves forever,
