Mumbai, Apr 16: The fifth anniversary of Malad Kannada Sangha was celebrated on Saturday April 14 here at M N Desai town municipal grounds.

Skynet Worldwide Express Courier Service Pvt Ltd managing director Jayaram N Shetty inaugurated the programme. Bunts Sangha Mumbai regional committee working president Padmanabha S Payyade was the guest of honour.

Goregaon Karnataka Sangha president Surendra Salian Mundkur, vice-president Justice Jagdish S Hegde, honorary chief secretary Shankar D Poojary, honorary chief treasurer Prakash S Shetty, joint secretary Shankar R Shetty, joint treasurer Anil S Poojary, Shambhavi Balakrishna Shetty and other were present.

Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri founder president Dr Mohan Alva was honoured with the ‘Taulava Ratna’ title on the occasion.

Malad Kannada Sangha president Harish N Shetty welcomed the gathering while Ashalata Kotian and Srinivas Reddy compered. Honorary chief secretary Shankar D Poojary proposed the vote of thanks.

There was a magic show by hotelier Shantaram Shetty as part of the entertainment programme. Children staged a Tulu drama ‘Yamraj Clinic’ and a number of dance items on the occasion.
