BJP demands admission for Delhi youth in DU colleges

New Delhi, June 29 (IANS): Delhi BJP Yuva Morcha workers on Monday demonstrated at the Delhi Secretariat to ask the AAP government to ensure that all students from the national capital should get admission in Delhi University colleges.

The demonstration was led by Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Yuva Morcha president Nakul Bhardwaj.

"The biggest problem being faced by Delhi youth is related to college admissions. Despite best results, Delhi students passing out of class 12 fail to get admission in Delhi University colleges.

"The Kejriwal government is trying to project its budget as a magical budget on education but the budget fails to take care of students' concern for college admissions," said Bhardwaj.

"Delhi government should make arrangements to ensure admission for Delhi students in Delhi University colleges," he added.

Delhi BJP general secretary Ramesh Bidhuri said the "Kejriwal government came to power selling magical dreams to the youth but today the youth stand disgruntled with this government.

"The government is trying to project that it has presented a revolutionary budget on education but the budget gives no solution on the dependence of people on costly private schools and colleges. The budget has no vision on giving cheap higher education," he added.

Terming the Aam Aadmi government's recent announcement to stand guarantee for every student in obtaining a loan of up to Rs.10 lakh for higher education as a "farce", Bidhuri said "The scheme is very old, in fact it came during the regime of Atal Bihari Vajpayee."

"At present, under this 'scheme of loans for higher education', the criteria is self guarantee or parents guarantee and the banks easily give the loan," the BJP leader added.
