Mangaluru, Jul 7: A leopard that had inadvertently fallen into a well at Kempugudde in Moodumarnadu village near here on Monday July 6 morning was rescued by the local forest officials.

The family members of Raghu Poojaty from Moodumarnadu heard the sound sound made by a heavy object falling into the family's well without protective wall. They came out and peeped into the well to see that a four-year-old male leopard was struggling to come out of its position. They immediately passed on information to policemen, forest officials, and president of Padumarnadu gram panchayat, Srinath Suvarna.

Forest officials, working with the cooperation of the locals, guidance of deputy range forest officer, Prashant, and led by range forest officer, G D Dinesh, rescued the animal. A huge wooden log was lowered into the well in a slanting position to function like ladder for the leopard. The leopard, which came out using this ladder, ran into the forest.
