India to host world's first neuropathy conference

New Delhi, July 20 (IANS): India will host the first international conference on neuropathic pain devoted to research in and treatment of the tormenting condition, an official said on Monday.

The three-day conference to be organised by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) will start on November 6.

"Health experts from 22 countries, including Germany, France and Sweden, will participate in the conference," said the official from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here.

Neuropathic pain is a complex, chronic pain that usually accompanies tissue injury. With neuropathic pain, nerve fibres themselves may be damaged, dysfunctional, or injured.
