Rs.1.35 crore sanctioned to clean Dehradun

Dehradun, July 21 (IANS): The Uttarakhand government has sanctioned Rs.1.35 crore to improve sanitation and clear garbage in the state capital, an official said on Tuesday.

At a recent review meeting with officials, Chief Minister Harish Rawat expressed his displeasure over lack of cleanliness in Dehradun and ordered the purchase of composite vans and dust bins.

The municipal corporation and health department officials have been asked to take special care of hygiene and sanitation in the city during the monsoon.

Referring to complaints of tardy garbage clearance, Rawat warned municipal corporation officials against laxity, an official told IANS.

The government has also given in-principle approval to fill the vacancies in the municpalities.

A special drive has been launched to install underground dustbins at hotels, residential colonies and big institutional buildings.
