Mumbai, Jul 31: The Bombay High Court, today rejected the plea that was put in by the mother of Ravidra Patil, the constable who died after witnessing against Salman Khan in the 2002 Hit and Run case. Sushilabai, had sought, through her lawyer, to intervene in the appeal that Salman's lawyer had filed against his earlier conviction in this very case, saying that the star was neither drunk nor driving at the time of the accident.

Judge A R Joshi however overruled the appeal saying that since the deceased was not a victim in the case, his mother did not have any right or capacity to bring an action or to appear in a court with regards to the case. Sushilabai's legal counsel Advocate M L Sharma, had strongly urged the court to consider their appeal and to revise the bail granted to the accused.

Late Constable Ravindra Patil,is said to have been with Salman on the fatal night that the actor's car went off the road and right onto a pavement in Bandra and killed one person and injuring four others who were sleeping over there. The verdict given, stated that Salman Khan was guilty of all that had transpired that night. Salman had been sentenced to five years imprisonment.

After giving his testimony, Ravindra Patil died in mysterious circumstances. He was the prime eye-witnesses on this case. He later died at a municipality hospital in Sewri.
