Bangalore, Jun 11: "Politics is destroying our society. It is very difficult to prevent it." These are the remarks of JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda, who himself has spent decades in politics.

He was speaking after releasing two books Dhyana Mukha and Of Mystics and Mysticism written by litterateur Prof. Mallepuram G. Venkatesh on Saturday.

"Even though it is difficult to find remedy to this problem, intellectuals can achieve it through their thoughts and writings. Death is natural and one should not fear death. Instead, elderly citizens should guide the younger generation as long as they live," he added.

Deve Gowda disclosed that he was trying to distance himself from everything and everybody. "Eventhough I am old and not so healthy, it is my will-power that has kept me going at this age. God's grace has given me this will-power. Everybody should develop this quality," he added.

"I have no attachments and ambitions. My only ambition is to serve the society," Gowda said.
