Mangalore, Jun 13: Strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty of employing child labourers for any type of work, said district's deputy commissioner Maheshwar Rao here on Tuesday.

Speaking after inaugural function at the observance of World Day for Prevention of Child Labour function in the Roshni Nilaya School of Social Work, he said that the district administration has warned of severe action against those employing child labour. He also said that there were 774 school dropouts in the age group between 6 to 14 years. So it is the duty of the society to bring these children back into the mainstream of society, he sad.

Manoj, a child labourer who has completed his sixth standard education after getting freed from child labour, was felicitated on this occasion.

It was incumbent upon the society to make a sincere attempt to prevent child labour and trafficking, said principal of School of Social work Jacinta D’Souza, who was chief guest on this occasion.
