Kundapur, Jun 13: Local MLA Haladi Srinivasa Shetty launched the rural development project for organic manure here recently. Speaking on the occasion he stated that today’s younger generation had no future, if their elders failed to direct them in the application of natural manure for high yielding agricultural products.

The OMRD Project is being implemented in Yedady-Mathyadi village of Kundapur taluk.  Presiding over the function TP member Anantha Movadi pointed out that the main reason for the deterioration of general public health was the increasing use of inorganic manure for agricultural yields in rural areas. He further stated that self sufficiency in food could only be achieved, by proper use of natural manures. With this end in view, farmers should be encouraged and motivated to utilize organic fertilizers produced indigenously.

The chief guests to grace the occasion were Sharada M D Bijuru, Geetha Nayak, Shankara Mogaveera, Arun Kumar Hegde, Ramdas Rai, Vidya S Nayak and Ashok Kumar Shetty. There were several other invitees present on the podium such as Ramadas Rai of the Cultural Department and Vidya S Nayak of Citizen’s Service Trust, both of whom delivered introductory speeches.  Joint-director Prabhakara Inna and Ramesh Khambada Kone compered the program.

The local official of the project, Ramesh Ganiga welcomed the gathering. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Roopesh. This OMRD Project of promoting and implementing use of natural manure on a large scale for rural development, was held under the auspices of the Citizen’s Services Trust in collaboration with Udupi ZP Agricultural Department, Kundapur taluk panchayat and Hombadi-Mandadi gram panchayat.
