Mangalore, Jun 14:  A majority of the people of Ullal are dependent on the sea, be it fishing or its related trade activities.

The newly-elected MLA of Ullal was felicitated in a unique and symbolic way on a dais specially erected away from the shore in the sea.

The felicitation was organized by Kotepura Friends Club and Ever Green Suppliers at Kotepura near Ullal on Wednesday, June 13 evening.

U K Ibrahim, president of Syed Madani Darga felicitated MLA and urged him to ensure solution to the problem of sea erosion which has been pestering the seaface residents of Ullal for decades.

At the same time, Ibrahim asked the locals to support young and energetic new MLA in developing the constituency.

In response, Khader assured the locals of a solution to the sea erosion problem as early as possible.

Congress leaders Ivan D’Souza, M G Hegade, T K Sudhir, Ishwar Ullal, Dinesh Rao, Alfred D’Souza, Denis D’Souza, Rashid Ullal and others were present at the programme.
