Mangalore, Jun 14: Rains have just started but already the damage seems very much evident. National Highway 17 passing through Kottar Chauki here has been worst affected with inches of water standing on the road making life miserable for the commuters.

Adding to the problems is the on-going construction work of the flyover which has increased the risk of accidents. Traveling on this stretch of the highway has been nothing short of a nightmare especially for pedestrians and drivers of two-wheelers.

The stagnant water is about 5-10 inches deep causing endless misery to the commuters.

The authorities, however, seem to be unaware of the problems faced by the commuters as no action has been taken in this regard yet.
