Mangalore, Jun 14: Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College has been granted permission by Ayush, a unit of union ministry of health and central council of Indian medicine, to enroll students, with effect from the current academic year.

According to sec.12 C of IMCC Act 1970, that came into effect on November 7, 2003, all existing Ayurveda and Unani colleges were expected to apply for permission from the union government within 3 years.

The college had applied for the permission as per their guidelines, within the stipulated period.  However, Ayush had withheld the process of admission, because of low number of applications for 2007-08, stated their press release.

The confusion has been resolved and the college stands affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS).
