Udupi, Jun 15: In response to the recent allegations made by Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT) regarding the dismissal of history lecturer Lalit Kumar from SMS College, Brahmavar here, the College has clarified that the dismissal was justified.

A press release issued by SMS College stated that the lecturer was dismissed on moral grounds and that there were facts to prove that Kumar indulged in activities unbecoming of the worthy profession he belonged to.

The release also stated that Kumar was issued a show-cause notice on Marc 17 and was given ample time to explain himself. The representation received by him on March 31 against the proposed penalty was duly considered and Kumar himself admitted his guilt.

Kumar was dismissed under Rule 32 (x) of Section 92 of the Karnataka Education Act 1983.

There was no point in conducting an enquiry as the accused had admitted his guilt and there were proven facts to back the case, the release stated.
