Puttur, Jun 15: Vittal Pre-university college principal Ramchandra Bhat (52) who had sustained critical injuries in an accident at Kootelu near Uppinangady here on Thursday June 14 evening, breathed his last on Friday June 15 morning in a private hospital at Mangalore.

Ramchandra Bhat was on his way to his house on Thursday evening riding his scooter when an oil tanker hit his scooter from behind at Kootelu near Uppinangady.  As a result he was thrown on the road and sustained serious injuries in his head which resulted in excessive bleeding.

He was immediately rushed in to a private hospital in Mangalore for treatment.  However, he succumbed to the injuries in hospital on Friday morning. 

He had served as commerce lecturer for the last 25 years.  It was only 3 months ago that he had been promoted to the post of principal of Vittal Pre-University College.   Sources said that he had played a major role in the welfare of the college and total development of thousands of students.

He is survived by wife and a son.
