Mangalore, Jun 16: Misuse of drugs and alcohol has been a matter of deep concern especially during campus elections; hence city-based Janagruti Vedike exhorted principals of colleges to curb this free flow, here on Friday, June 15.

More and more students are getting involved in this abuse, Vasant Salian, president of the Vedike sternly warned. Such addicted students would then join hands with anti-social elements and would thereby be a threat to peaceful society, he stated.

Salian further warned that vested interests could join hands with candidates in fray during the campus elections and may distribute cash, drugs and alcohol. As a deterrent he urged principals to deal with such cases firmly, without showing any leniency towards any student caught peddling or inhaling drugs.
