Mangalore, Jun 18: A one- day workshop was organized by the district Legal Service Authority in association with women and child welfare department at Prajna Counseling Centre here on Sunday June 17.

Additional superintendent of police Lokesh Kumar inaugurated the workshop.

There were lectures on different acts by experts on the occasion, namely Probation of Offender (PO) Act of 1958 by first additional district and sessions judge K B Chengappa, and Prevention of Domestic Violence Act by third additional district sessions judge D S Shinde.

Shinde also spoke on the duties of policemen and urged them to follow the Acts and take action against those who are guilty of violating the rules.

Chairman of the district committee for the protection and welfare of children Prof Hilda Rayappan spoke on the Juvenile Justice Act.

Principal district and session judge H M Bharatesh and others were present.
