Mangalore, Jun 18: Big people forgetting small matters is quite usual. When you have serious problems to solve and even serious plans to execute, who will bother about a silly telephone bill?

The Kankanady Railway Station Helpline number 2437824 has been disconnected since May 23. The reason, the telephone department says, is non payment of the bill. In fact, the bill of this particular telephone number has been pending for the last three months. Neither the station authorities, nor the Railways have cared to pay the bill, resulting in great inconvenience to the public who often depend upon this number for their enquiries.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Southern Railways Public Relations Officer Om Prakash said that such bills are usually paid from the headquarters.

However, there are chances that the bills get mixed up with some others or that the station authorities have not informed the Head Quarters about the bill, he said.

The net due for all the three months have now come around Rs 5,600, which shouldn’t be an amount at all for “a department that makes an annual profit of Rs 20,000 crores,” says Mr Gregory Peres, who complained on the issue.
