Udupi, Jun18: An accident occurred in the wee hours of the morning, near Ambalpady bypass on the NH 17 here on Sunday, June 17.
A motor cyclist and his pillion rider were killed on the spot, when they hit a stationary lorry parked by the roadside. The duo was coming from Kundapur to Udupi. They unknowingly dashed against the parked lorry as it did not have its park light on. Insufficient light seems to be the cause of the mishap.
The dead motor cyclist has been identified as Faizal (18), son of Abubakker from Palemar while the pillion rider has been identified as Imtiaz (19), son of Ismail from Kanchinadka.
Udupi town police have registered a case against the driver of the parked lorry for negligence.
