Mangalore, June 19: The New Mangalore Port and Industrial Development Displaced Persons Betterment Association (NMPIDBA) has urged the representation of the association in the New Mangalore Port Management Trust (NMPT) board.

The president of Displaced Persons Registered Labor Contract Cooperative Society must be appointed as one of the trustees of the NMPT, said member of the association Srinivas Rao while speaking to press persons here on Monday June 18.

Nearly 15,000 persons have been displaced despite sacrificing their properties for the construction of the port. Though those people have been shifted to over 3,500 acres in areas such as Katipalla and Kulai, they were still facing various kinds of problems, he said.
