Mangalore, June 19:  According to the Hindu Janajagrathi Samiti spokesperson Ram Bhat of the Puttur unit, the proposed Sethusamudram Project is an attempt to destroy the rich cultural traditions of India. Hence they would protests against this project, he added.

He was addressing party men in front of deputy commissioner's office at the protest meet held on Monday June 18.

The major grouse of the Samiti is that the ‘Sree Rama Sethu’, the oldest man-made bridge, older than the Egyptian Pyramids and the Great Wall of China is being destroyed for no social or financial gain but merely to insult crores of Hindu populace all over the world. According to Bhat the UPA government is treating the Hindus in a step-motherly manner. While the so called secular government is protecting the Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar, it is not bothered about the ‘Sree Rama Sethu’ Bridge which is more than a lac year old, accused Ram Bhat.

He exhorted the Hindus of their duty to protect their religion and religious memorials. The machine brought to destroy the bridge is called ‘Hanuman Yantra’, which in his opinion was another insult to Hinduism. Bhat urged the union government to seriously value the sentiments of Hindus and immediately halt the Sethusamudram Project which would result in the destruction of the ‘Sree Rama Sethu’ Bridge.

Dear Mr Anand, I did not comment anything about Sethusamudram Project.I do not wish to comment on topics which are not of concern to me.Since you raised the topic of Haj subsidy, under this topic, then I entered the scene. If you are not sure whether countries like Indonesia, Malaysia,Pakistan are providing haj subsidy or not, then let us close this matter here.

Do not make any wrong statements that India is the only country giving Haj Subsidy. If you want to help the poor muslims, then have a look at the reservation policy followed by our Govts in Education and Govt Jobs.Just see where the major portion is going.

Still the SC & ST are getting the major chunk even after 58 years of Independence. Many times this is misused. Why do we need reservations ?. Let all get the govt jobs & college seats as per the merits. Is it acceptable to you ?

I am confused with Mr Anand’s comments. Did I say anywhere that Nigeria is a Muslim country ?. I listed some countries including India and Nigeria from where the haj pilgrims come from. Does he understand that India is also a Muslim country. I can accept his statement, that India is the only country giving Haj subsidy, if he provides the figures of amounts spent or charged to each haj pilgrim from these countries. I do not think it will be a tough task for a person who can name the capitals of 178 countries of the world . ( Phata Phat ). Otherwise he should accept that his comments were rubbish .
