Mangalore, Jun 20: The members of taluk panchayat and zilla panchayat have alleged that many of the gram panchayats have been ignoring them.

Speaking at the meeting of taluk panchayat members held here on Tuesday June 19, the members said that gram panchayats have passed a resolution not to invite any member of TP and ZP to their meetings.

The members said that the TP does not have enough powers and that it is being constantly sidelined.

Stating an example, TP member Gokuldas Shetty said that TP was not even informed when cheques under National Family Security Scheme were distributed at Town Hall recently. Though the scheme does not come under TP, he said that at least a notification regarding the programme should have been sent.

Ullal MLA U T Khader responded to the complaint by asking the TP president to demand an explanation for the same from the tahsildar.

Among those present were ZP president Sushma Janardhan and members of taluk and zilla panchayats.
