Bolt clinches fourth 200m world title

Beijing, Aug 27 (IANS): Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt won a record fourth straight 200 metres gold medal title to complete a double over his main rival American Justin Gatlin at the World Athletics Championships here on Thursday.

It was also Bolt's 10th world championships gold medal. Bolt edged ahead in the race and romped home clocking the year's best time of 19.55 seconds, reports CMC.

Gatlin, who was also second to Bolt in the 100 metres race, clocked 19.74 seconds, 0.13 ahead of third-placed Anaso Jobodwana from South Africa, who set a new national record.

Gatlin looked like he might gain the advantage but then Bolt extended his strides to pull away from Gatlin towards the finish.

Bolt's training partner Zharnel Hughes, who competes for Great Britain, posted a personal best of 20.02 seconds to finish one position behind fourth-placed Panama's Alonso Edward in 19.87 seconds.

Ramil Guliyev of Turkey was sixth, followed by Femi Ogunode of Qatar and Jamaica’s Nickel Ashmeade.
