Bangalore, Jul 21: The Essel Karnataka’s Best Minister Award was presented to K S Eshwarappa, Minister for Water Resources on Thursday July 19 here by Subhash Chandra, chairman of Essel Group and Zee Network.

Eshwarappa was selected by the people of Karnataka through tele-voting from among the six ministers shortlisted by an eminent Jury headed by Justice B S Srinivas Rao. A record was created with over four lac votes being received. Eshwarappa won by a margin of over one lac votes

The winners of the Jury award are: M P Prakash, minister for Home, Basavaraj S Horatti, minister for Primary and Secondary Education, N Cheluvarayaswamy, minister for Transport (all from the JDS), Jagadish Shettar minister for Revenue and Katta Subramanya Naidu, minister for Industries (both from the BJP).

“This is the seventh in the series of Awards, initiated by the Essel Group. The Awards aim at inspiring and motivating the youth. After seeing the success in Karnataka we are taking this award to all the regions of the country. We want to take this award to greater heights where people should look up to achieve this award by doing the best to the society and the country,” said Subhash Chandra, chairman, Essel Group and Zee Network.

Thanking the Essel group for the award Eswarappa told that “this award has provided him an opportunity to understand and work more towards the ambition of the people.”

Deputy chief minister Yediyurappa speaking to the gathering welcomed the Essel’s ambitious programme of identifying and recognizing individuals and institutions that have made a significant contribution in public or private life.  He said you do well to the society and there will always be recognition in return.   

“The Ministers participated in the initiative in a spirit of sportsmanship, forgetting all their differences. This exhibits the maturity of Indian Politics,” said Dr Gautham Machaiah, vice-president, Corporate and Public Affairs, Essel Group and Zee Network.

Scintillating dance performances by Dilip Raj, Preeti Chandrashekhar and Manasi marked the event.

    Congratulations to Mr. K S Eshwarappa. In a similar way there should be a voting for the worst minister and who ever wins in that category,  should be garlanded. Still I cannot guarantee he will change for the better.
