Mumbai City face high flying FC Goa in ISL

Navi Mumbai, Oct 24 (IANS): On a high after their first win of the Indian Super League (ISL) second season, hosts Mumbai City FC will have to be at their best when they take on table-toppers FC Goa at the D.Y. Patil Stadium here on Sunday.

With two losses, a draw and a win, Mumbai are currently at the bottom of the eight-team table with just four points from as many games and will have to display the confidence and zeal they showed against Delhi Dynamos FC in their previous encounter if they are to win against a team who have three victories, a draw and just a loss under their belt in five matches.

The Mumbai attack will be powered by star striker Sunil Chhetri, who netted a brace in his second ISL match on Wednesday. Besides the India captain, the hosts will again depend on in-form Haitian forward Sony Norde, who produced some excellent chances and his assists helped Mumbai score against Dynamos.

Nicolas Anelka, who has taken on the extra responsibility of being Mumbai's marquee-player-cum-coach, will be happy to have got the combination right and will hope the side delivers against an in-form Goa.

On the other hand, Goa have displayed an attacking flair expected of them after packing the squad with as many as seven Brazilians, all handpicked by their coach, the legendary Zico.

The flurry of goals (eight) scored by them in the tournament shows their class up-front and it will have to be seen on Sunday how Zico goes about with his boys in an away match against a confident Mumbai.
