Doha: GWA celebrates World Goa Day on Nov 6

Doha, Oct 30: Goan Welfare Association, Doha celebrates World Goa Day 2015 on Friday November 6 at Mercure Grand Hotel, near the swimming pool from 12.30 pm onwards. It will be a moment to enjoy Goan food festival, Goan traditional fashion show, music, singing, dancing, lots of fun and games. "Let us be proud Goans and celebrate our culture, language, traditions, music and cuisine," says Simon D’Silva, president of GWA.

Live band and Doha’s favourite Joyce and Aggie will present scintillating music throughout the event with the audience clamouring for more and more live numbers and DJ Glorio mixing the retros and pop, goan melodies, ballroom and so on and so forth. A charming young handsome ace compere Mahesh Prabhu committed to keeping all the folk on their toes and taking out the best from every participant of the event. It is an amazing event that will award the best goan traditional costume for children and adults.

World Goa Day (WGD) was introduced to commemorate the anniversary of the inclusion of Konkani in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution by the Indian Parliament on August 20, 1992 when Konkani was recognised as one of the official languages of India. Konkani is the mother tongue of the Goans.

Entry for adults is priced at Qrs 100 and Children Qrs 50 per head. Fr Anand Castelino has kindly consented to being the chief guest.

The event is intended as a day for Goans worldwide to focus, take pride and celebrate their culture, language, tradition, music, cuisine and more wherever they are on the planet earth.
