Slutski to remain coach of CSKA Moscow, Russian national team

Moscow, Oct 31 (IANS): Russian side CSKA Moscow has announced Leonid Slutski will remain the head coach of the club as well as the Russian national football team until the end of Euro 2016 in France, following the agreement in principle that was signed among the three parties.

President of the Football Union of Russia, Vitali Mutko, said on Friday that Slutski's continuation as manager of the national team, following Euro 2016, will largely depend on the group's results during the tournament, reports Efe.

In any case, according to Mutko, Slutski cannot combine both posts following the European Championship and will have to resign from CSKA if he wishes to remain with Russia.

Since Slutski's was appointed on August 7, the Russian national team have won four straight matches during the Euro 2016 qualifiers; most importantly against Sweden in a 1-0 victory in Moscow, which allowed Russia to qualify directly to the European Championship.
