Ajman: Mangaluru Udyoga mela delegates visit Mohiudeen Wood

Media Release

Ajman, November 9: A delegation headed by forest minister, environment and ecology (Karnataka state) Ramnath Rai, accompanied by Ibrahim Adoor Balakil (deputy commissioner, Dakshina Kannada district), Ramachandra (secretary to govt, environment and ecology dept), Siddappa Shanthappa (member of secretariat, Karnataka State Population Control Board), Ganapatheppa Jagadeesha (private secretary to minister for forest, ecology and environment, government of Karnataka), Dr U T Ifthikar Ali (senate member, Rajiv Ghandi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru) Pius Levin Rodrigues (chairman of Bantwal Urban Development Authority) visited Mohiudeen Wood Works LLC, Ajman as part of their campaign 'Mangaluru Udyoga Mela 2015'.

The campaign seeks to promote and create employment opportunities in the region for people from Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada and surrounding districts of Karnataka state. The delegates most of whom are connected with forest departments were impressed to find that this particular campaign event stood out, since it was held in a sawmill, surrounded by natural timber logs and sawn timber, as most of the other events were held in conventional meeting rooms.

From the onset way back in 1993 when B M Ashraf established Mohiudeen Wood Works, in Ajman, UAE, it has always been a cornerstone their founding philosophy to promote and provide employment opportunities to people from Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada and surrounding districts in Karnataka state. From early 1990 onwards, as the group steadily grew and branched out into different fields it has since been a boon to skilled people and professionals alike who pursue overseas employment opportunities to further their careers.

During his speech to the gathering, Ramnath Rai expressed a great deal of admiration for MWW, as he along with the other delegates were clearly impressed by the manner in which MWW has successfully exported a centuries old trade from India to a gleaming modern city like Dubai. He also acknowledged and lauded B M Ashraf for his efforts in continuing to promote sawmilling in the Middle East, which has its roots in South India and for practising sustainable practises in the timber business that will ensure the preservation of key natural forest resources for generations to come.
